Next week is Homecoming! Since we are preparing for a super fetch week of events, we have realized that there are conflicts with our normal rehearsal schedule. To ensure our cast has the opportunity to make precious memories, we have adjusted our schedule.

Menu change for HES next week!

On Tuesday, 9/17 - Students at Everest Middle School took a look from a new perspective for the 27 Amendments to the Constitution, through music! We made connections between the title of the songs and the amendment that they represented. Some made us laugh and some made us appreciate how far we have come as a country! Some songs we heard included U Can't Touch This by MC Hammer, The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel, and Popular from Wicked!

The Lady Chargers volleyball team picked up 2 wins at Oskaloosa. Good job ladies!

Sixth-grade students engaged in a Reader's Theater performance focused on the United States Constitution. Reader's Theater is an interactive reading activity where students perform a script without memorization, props, or costumes. In this case, the students utilized a script that explored the fundamental principles and historical significance of the Constitution.

As part of Constitution Day, our 3rd graders participated in a Mock Trial. Over 13,000 participants throughout Kansas, with Senator Jerry Moran, Dr. Randy Watson, and Governor Kelly zooming in. Our students were part of the jury! What an awesome experience!

Public Speaking is a new course offered at our high school this year and is off to a great start! I had the pleasure of sitting in on the class where students were assigned to bring significant items that represent their past, present, and future. The leadership skills and confidence that I observed growing in these students was amazing to watch!
