Did you know that EMS received a technology grant? Several years ago, EMS was chosen for an eMints grant that would provide technology and training to our 7th and 8th grade students. Part of this grant was technology training for the 7th and 8th grade teachers.
Today was a training day! 7th & 8th Grade teachers had the opportunity to be trained on the new Smart boards in their classrooms.

6th Graders studied the environment and ecology on Earth Day. They created rain clouds and environment water colors.

Today the 8th grade class ventured to Horton High School -- where they will be FRESHMEN next fall! Students pre-enrolled in courses. The HHS Student Council was also on hand to share information about the various clubs and give tours of HHS.

The NEKL North 7/8th Grade Mass Band was a great success today! Dr. Tom Seddon and Dr. Von Hansen were wonderful with the students and prepared a great concert! Thanks to directors Greg Scheetz, Laura Walters, AJ Pence, and Greg Baird for preparing your bands! Thanks to the EMS staff for all of your help and patience! Most of all, thank you to the EMS 7/8th Band students for being terrific at today's event!

Horton Elementary Participated in the American Heart Association fund drive "Heart Heros". Mr. Nelson our PE Teacher, took the lead and with his guidance the students raised $5,207.15 for the Heart Association. Then Friday 4/22/22 he lead an all school assembly and students who reached a certain level in their donations had the opportunity to give "pies in the face" to Mr. Nelson, Mrs. Burns, or Mrs. Dickman. The students loved this assembly. Our top earner was Mazleigh who raised over $3,000.00! There will be a banner placed in our gym naming the gym after her for the next year! Thank you to everyone who made this such a successful venture for our students and school. 10% of the funds raised will go back into the PE program at the elementary school.
