South Brown County was represented well this year in the Hiawatha Halloween Frolic Queen Scholarship Contest. HHS Seniors Courtney Cline, Carley Hammersmith, and Julia Lehew, participated by writing an essay and reading it, interviewing, and sharing a talent.
Congratulations to Carley Hammersmith, First Runner Up and winner of a $500 scholarship and Courtney Cline, Miss Congeniality and a $250 scholarship.

Everest Middle School is hosting a Veterans Day Program on November 11 at 10:00 a.m. Brunch will be served in the EMS library at 9:00 a.m. All veterans and their families are invited to attend.


Horton High School Theatre presents:
The Sound of Music! It will take place in the HHS Auditorium on the following dates and times: Friday, November 11th at 7pm, Saturday, November 12th at 7pm, and Sunday, November 13th at 1:30pm.
Admission to the musical is $8 for adults and $5 for students.
Before the Friday and Saturday performances, there will be fundraisers put on by the P.E.O. and the musical cast! Friday will be pie and Saturday will be soup!


Our HHS FCCLA chapter attended the District Fall Leadership Conference. Brooke Lennington, former KSNT Broadcaster was the main speaker, she provided valuable information about life. Chapter members presented the colors, led the district meeting & attended breakout sessions.



Mrs. Holzey's fourth grade class and Mrs. Soderlund's Kindergarten class buddied up to make a spooky monster for Halloween.

With a new month comes a new "Healthy to a 'T' from Taher! November is all about texture!

Everest Middle School Student Council will be having a dance for 7/8th grade students on Friday, November 4, from 6 to 8 pm, in the EMS cafeteria.

Miss Larson’s 3rd grade and Miss Santos 4th grade did a Halloween STEM activity where students were challenged to design and create a tower out of pumpkins and tooth picks in under 15 minutes. Great team work activity!




The kindergarten students participated in some fun science experiments today, including a pumpkin volcano! 🎃





Mrs. Hisle's Kindergarten class joined Mrs. Wischropp's 2nd Grade class to carve a pumpkin together as classroom buddies. After listening to the story "Pumpkin Jack", they decided to see what would happen to their Jack-o-lantern in the next few weeks.




Congratulations to the HES Charger All-Stars this week! The students are learning about Habit 2: Begin With The End In Mind.
