Charger families,

Christmas is fast approaching and we have a lot of activities planned for the month of December.

  • Our eighth graders were able to go to the Reality U experience which was held at the HHS gymnasium on December 5th.  Our 8th and 10th-grade students were able to experience what it is like in the real world, finding out how much insurance, daycare, groceries, car/house payments, etc.  Like everything we do, it is only possible with the volunteers in our community to come and help with this experience.

  • Our winter interim testing for fastbridge is open from December 6- December 19. Our teachers will be sending out information on when their testing will be done. These tests are vital for us to find where our student’s learning is. This data is used to guide our interventions so that we can get your child where they need to be.

  • Boys Basketball practice will begin on Monday, December 12, after school.  There will be a parent meeting following practice in the cafeteria at 5:30 pm.

  • 5th-8th graders will be traveling to the Topeka Performing Arts to watch the “Nutcracker” ballet on Wednesday, December 14.  Mrs. Lanter applied for a grant that covers the admission tickets for our students/staff as well as paying for our transportation down there.  Students will have to dress appropriately to be able to attend this experience as well.  Our teachers will be introducing vocabulary, themes, and other contexts before and after the ballet so our students will have a complete understanding of their experience.

  • Don’t forget to come out and support our vocal/band Christmas concert that will be held at the EMS gymnasium on December 15.  Mr. Vittetoe and Ms. McManus have been working extremely hard to prepare their students to showcase their skills to you.

  • This semester's last day of school will be Tuesday, December 20.  We will celebrate our honor roll and perfect attendance students with an assembly in the gymnasium.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and we will look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year on Thursday, January 5.

Sincerely,

Travis Torkelson
