September News

We have had an amazing start to the 2021-2022 School Year!  Before the first day of school, USD 430 Staff participated in several meetings and training to gear up for the new school year.  The staff heard from inspirational speaker Dan Meers, also known as KC Wolf.  His message and encouragement brought excitement and enthusiasm to help us start the year off on the right foot.  He reminded the staff of the importance of each day and how blessed we truly are.  Mr. Meers has captured the phrase, “life is like a coin, spend it wisely.”  This message is so relevant in schools today.  As educators, parents, and community members we have a short amount of time to leave a lasting impact while building positive relationships with our young people, so they can have the best opportunity to be successful in whatever they decide to do.  How will you spend your coin today?

As we move past the halfway point of the first quarter, I wanted to remind everyone to download the new USD 430 South Brown County School App.  We are gearing up for an eventful Fall and you do not want to miss out on the latest news and events.  In November, the voters of USD 430 will go to the polls to decide on Facilities Bond Projects that will focus on safety, security, energy efficiency, and HVAC Replacement.  The district will be holding community tours at each facility.  These tours will be a great time to tour the buildings and to ask questions.  We will kick off the tours on September 29 at the Elementary School.  Then on October 4, the community will have a chance to tour the High School before we wrap up our tours on October 6 at the Everest Middle School.  All tours will start at 6:00.  After tours, there will be a short presentation with time for questions and answers.  If you have questions concerning the bond project please call the school or the board office.  Patrons can learn more about the bond projects and costs by visiting our website, following us on Facebook at South Brown County Schools USD #430, or by picking up a flyer when visiting local stores.

USD 430 continues to review COVID Data regularly.  Currently, we are doing a fantastic job in keeping students in school and safe.  In late August, the district was approved to receive a grant from KDHE to give parents an option for testing their children if they have been exposed to COVID 19.  Through testing, we can keep healthy students in schools.  If you have questions about the testing options please visit the school nurse at your child’s school.  Currently, as I am writing this letter I am pleased to say that USD 430 has zero positive cases and zero absences due to quarantine.  We understand that this number will fluctuate throughout the school year.  I encourage you to continue social distancing, practice good hand washing hygiene and stay home if you are sick.  Together we will continue to defeat the virus.

Thank you for sharing your child with us!  If you have any questions, concerns, or comments please stop by the school, call, or send us an email.

Go Chargers!!
