U.S.D. #430 was founded in 1966 with the consolidation of Horton, Everest, and Willis. In 1981-82 the Powhattan district was included. Everest Middle school is located in Everest, a rural community of about 300 people 5 miles east of Horton. The district serves a rural community in northeast Kansas encompassing the southern part of Brown county and small parts of northern Atchison county. Our original Middle School building was built in 1954 with a new wing added in 1972-73.
