Welcome Back

Dear South Brown County USD 430 School Community,

I wanted to take a moment to say “Hello” and let you know how much we have missed you over the summer.  I  hope that you have had a relaxing summer and are ready to kick off this incredible 2021-2022 School Year!

Enrollment for the upcoming school year will take place on August 4-5 at HHS.  Returning students can start the process online using your parent portal, however; all returning students (parents) will still need to plan on coming to enrollment on August 4-5.  If you have any questions or need help please contact your school building or the district office.  We are happy to answer any questions.

If you have not been on our new website please take a few minutes to check it out!  There is even an app to help you stay informed on the amazing events that are happening in USD 430!  With all the excitement and cool things taking place in South Brown County, you do not want to miss anything! It is an exciting time to be a Charger!  Download the app today and stay connected.  This year the district will be sending out Alerts instead of TextCasters.  If you have children enrolled in the district your current phone number and contact information will already be uploaded to the new Alert System.  If you do not have children enrolled but are still wanting to receive alerts by phone please visit www.usd430.org and click on the Community Notifications Sign-up in the right upper corner of the home screen.

Our 2021-2022 school year plans are coming together, and we are excited for and very much looking forward to the first day of school on August 17, 2021.  A reminder that the calendar for the school year can be found on the district website at www.usd430.org. This year we will continue to focus on several areas during the school year.

  • Social and Emotional Supports: We know that establishing and continuing to strengthen our trusting relationships with students and families is a critical and foundational step to helping our students learn. We will continue to be mindful of and act upon the social and emotional needs of students, staff, and families.

  • Attendance and Engagement: We will continue to be committed to working closely with students and families, and we want our schools to continue to be places where students and staff have fun, thrive, and look forward to learning each day.

  • Communication with Families: We enjoy sharing our successes with families, and we want to hear from you as well regarding your thoughts about successes and challenges.

  • Curriculum and Instruction: We will continue to plan fun and exciting instruction for each subject area using Kansas Standards. Working together as partners, we can absolutely minimize and/or eliminate any negative impact that the pandemic may have had on student learning.

  • Evaluation of Learning: We will continue to gather reasonable amounts of data and information about your child(ren) through observations, questioning techniques, and discussions, along with more formal assessments or tests. Combined, this information will continue to tell us what your child(ren) knows and is able to do as well as how much they are growing and achieving.

On behalf of USD 430, we miss you and we look forward to seeing you soon. Please continue to have a great summer and please let us know if there is anything that you need or if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Jason Cline

Superintendent
