South Brown County Schools are well into the 3rd quarter of the year, so it is time to recognize our Best of the Best from 2nd quarter. The second set of Best of the Best for the 2023-24 school year, a staff and student from EMS have been recognized.
William Allen, an 8th-grade student at EMS, was nominated through his positive referrals, a new recognition system at EMS, to the principal. Mr. Torkelson, EMS Principal, shared with the board at the most recent school board meeting that Will had received the most Positive Referrals thus far. "This morning it was icy and cold. When another student got off the bus, that student lost his papers and binder on the ground. Will stopped and helped pick up everything. You could tell the student wasn't as embarrassed once Will stopped and helped him. I have heard and seen great things this year with Will. He has become a leader and positive influence in his class. Good Job Will, keep it up! Another positive referral - "Today I observed Will and another student putting up all the cafeteria tables for the cafeteria to be cleaned. Will was working very hard to get all the tables up and moved promptly. He was also working very cooperatively with another student to complete the task. The custodial staff was ill today and Will jumped in to provide needed help! Thank you, Will!"
Our staff "Best of the Best" honoree is Brian Messer. Mr. Messer is the 7th/8th grade ELA teacher at EMS. "Every day my child comes home from school sharing about what they talked about in Mr. Messer’s class. My child truly enjoys how Mr. Messer builds relationships with his students. I appreciate Mr. Messer’s ability to positively engage with our students at EMS. My child has never really enjoyed school and really wouldn’t share much about how his/her went, but now we get an update daily."
