I hope this message finds you well. As we finish the month of March, Spring is approaching and learning is in full swing here at EMS.

As you may know, this is the time of year that students make the most academic and social gains. Very soon the weather will change with spring right around the corner. It is important that our students remain focused and dedicated to their academics. Here's what you can do to continue to help support your child at home:

  • Make attendance your number one priority. Let your child know that unless they are sick, they must attend school (and be on time.)

  • Make an effort to schedule appointments after school hours. Show you care. Talk about school activities and projects. Make an effort to attend as many school events as you can.

  • Remain positive. Try to set a positive example for your child, even when your own day has been challenging. If you show a positive attitude about your work and challenges, your child may feel better about his/her own.

  • Please remind your 7/8th grade child to charge his/her Chromebook every night. Students need to make sure to power off his/her Chromebook on occasion so that they can be updated.

 Assessment schedule:

7/8th ELA - April 5-6

8th Science- April 12-13

5th Science - April 13-14

6th Math/ELA - April 17-21

5th ELA - April 18-19

7/8th Math - April 18-19

Algebra - April 14, April 19

5th Math - April 20-21

Students are encouraged to “do their best” on these tests.  Parents/guardians can help by making sure they go to bed at a reasonable time and have a good breakfast the morning of the test.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education! Wishing you a wonderful Spring season!

Sincerely,

Travis Torkelson
