On February 22, 2017, three Horton High School Seniors joined other students from Atchison, Brown and Doniphan counties, as they attended a ceremony sponsored by the Kansas University Alumni Association. The banquet was held in honor of their academic accomplishments through their first 7 semesters of high school. The students were treated to a catered supper, followed by short presentations from various Kansas University students and alumni. The presented ideas ranged from making the best of opportunities to making connections with those of similar interest and in their chosen profession. Each senior was then presented with a collegiate dictionary, as well as a certificate. Seniors honored at the event from Horton High School were: Kylie Hutfles, daughter of Jennifer and Charles Hutfles; Abby Ross, daughter of Jana and Tim Ross; and Cameron Smith, son of Ronda and Jason Smith.
Accompanying the students and parents were Dave Norman, HHS principal, Mark Ross, HHS Activities Director and Tyler Smith, HHS Counselor.
