Open to see attachment. The Horton High School Band traveled to Atchison on Thursday April 13 to participate in the KSHSAA State Large Ensemble Festival. Bands and choirs from 25 area high schools performed throughout the day. The groups were judged by 3 judges and then given a rating based on the scores they earned. The groups were evaluated in areas such as tone, intonation, rhythm, balance, blend, etc. The HHS band presented a wonderful performance on Celtic Air and Dance, by Michael Sweeney, and Rough Riders March, by Karl King/arranged by James Swearingen. The group worked very hard in preparing the pieces for performance. As a result of their hard work, the band earned a I rating for their performance. This is the highest rating a group can earn at a KSHSAA Music Festival. This is 2 years in a row for the band as well as earning a I 3 out of 5 of the last years!
